Program Experience
Adler is uniquely suited to offer this degree program as it draws on our longstanding expertise in military cultural competency and commitment to social justice. We’ve developed a collaborative partnership with our armed services that fosters community and works to decrease mental health stigma, all while giving students a unique training opportunity.
In this fully online program, a small-class cohort of peers will both support and challenge you through our rigorous academic curriculum. In addition, virtually all of your instructors will have military experience, providing you with critical knowledge and insight as you focus on applied, rather than clinical, psychology.

Concentration Options
Psychology of Terrorism
Learn how oppression, social injustices, and inequities all contribute to the terrorism phenomena. Course content includes psychological consequence management of terrorism and mental health disaster response to all hazards. Additionally, instruction addresses chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear events being either premeditated, accidental or natural occurrences.
Addiction Studies
Gain a foundation in the education, prevention, intervention, and treatment of Alcohol and Other Drug Use (AOD) disorders. Specifically, learn the theories, techniques, and core functions of substance abuse treatment, focusing on evidence-based research and best practice standards from a social justice standpoint. This concentration will prepare students to understand and address the growing issue of substance addiction among military populations, and meet the increased need for those who understand addictions.
Coursework:
The Master of Arts in Psychology: Specialization in Military Psychology is delivered completely online. It consists of thirteen eight-week courses and can be completed in as little as 12 months. Nearly all faculty members are veterans or experienced military professionals with firsthand understanding of this unique culture and a deep commitment to Adler’s mission.
